Objective: To expose students to the topic area in detail
Procedure: Have students follow the next 10 web pages as a "tour of the Solar System"
Ongoing Assessment:  Participation;  Journal entries... "What I learned, What this means to me."

You are going on a learning journey through the solar system.  Below is an approximation of the orbits of the "inner" planets, followed by Jupiter and Saturn.  Even the dot for each planet is far too large in comparison to the sun in the centre.

Below are the orbits of the outer planets, as far as Pluto.

You can see the solar system is a vast area of mainly "space".

On the next web pages, you'll take a journey through the solar system.  Begin with the Sun and journey outward.  You can come back to these pages when you need to for information on the size and distances of the planets, and links to further information that will interest you.
