For most of my life, nosebleeds were something that my children occasionally got-- their nose seeped, they pinched it for a while, and it stopped. Unexpectedly some years ago, I had one myself, then another and another. Though the first had seeped, subsequent ones flowed heavily and refused to stop for half-hours or more.

I found their unpredictablity and difficulty to control traumatic. While struggling to bring the situation under control, and in several years since, I sought out advice on nosebleeds, and tried various recommendations for control.

I am not a doctor, and this is not official medical advice. My family doctor inspected the page, and with a couple of corrections to spellings of medical terms, indicated that it was sound advice.  If you are concerned as I was (and still am) about nosebleeds, there are some ideas and techniques that I found helpful. I managed to go several years without any bleeds after my initial trouble, and have had only one event in the last decade. If you are doing nothing at the moment to alleviate your problem, some of these ideas will make quite a difference for you.
